Dr. Jacob Maxwell, DVM
Dr. Jacob Maxwell grew up on the beautiful Manitoulin Island in Northern Ontario, where his early encounters with wildlife sparked a lifelong passion for animals. From raising caterpillars and chickens on his family's property to earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College, his journey has been rooted in a deep commitment to animal care. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Zoology/Animal Biology from the University of Guelph.
Dr. Maxwell began his veterinary path as a volunteer in 2013 and now brings over a decade of experience to his role as an Associate Veterinarian at Village Cat Clinic. He especially enjoys connecting with clients, learning about the unique bonds they share with their pets, and working to strengthen the human-animal connection. He's also excited to further hone his clinical skills and confidently manage complex feline medical cases.
Outside of work, Jacob enjoys spending time outdoors—whether running, cycling, swimming, painting, or relaxing by the beach with music. He’s a proud turtle dad to 25-year-old Feisty and looks forward to adopting a new feline friend as he settles into his home in Guelph. Meanwhile, his family pets—Skye the cat and dogs Keltie, Luna, and Aggie—continue to enjoy life on Manitoulin.
Before joining our team, Jacob welcomed his new feline roommate, Jimbo, a sweet 2-year-old from the Guelph Humane Society. Jimbo’s a cuddle enthusiast and is already getting along well with Feisty. Adventurous at heart, Jacob is patiently working on getting him confident outdoors using a harness—embracing each step of their journey together.
